I’m a Lesbian and my wife is in the Military. Now what?
Don’t freak out it’s not 1950 anymore, Harry Truman isn’t the President and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is long gone. It’s September 2015 and Same-Sex Marriage is legal in all 50 states. You might plan to or have recently married your wife who is joining the military or your wife already serves. It still might still feel scary starting your new life or coming out as an openly gay couple in your military community. Change only comes about by those who are willing to change themselves.
I believe in change that’s why I created this blog. I want to give Lesbian Military Spouses a voice, a place on the infinite web space that occupies our life. I began searching for information about Lesbian Military Spouse earlier this year and came up empty handed on the blog side of the web. A lot of things have changed this year regarding Same-Sex Marriage and maybe that’s why there isn’t much out there.
“We have seen our country jump leaps and bounds towards acceptance of the LGBT community, yet throughout the military community, the steps that are being taken are slow and deliberate. Although some are more willing to be forthcoming about their sexual orientation, others are more private and that’s OK. The mere fact that our LGBT military are given the choice of whether they want to tell or not, is what is most important.” – Erin Faith Wilson
